Daniel Ferguson is an Associate Research Scientist in The University of Arizona's Institute of the Environment, Associate Research Professor in the UA School of Natural Resources and the Envrionment, and Director of Climate Assessment for the Southwest (CLIMAS) program. Dan’s research focuses on three related areas: methods and processes for building scientist/practitioner partnerships to address climate-related issues in society; climate impacts and adaptation strategies in Native American communities; and community climate resilience planning in arid and semi-arid regions. In addition to his research, Dan is actively involved in the Connecting Environmental Science and Decision Making(CESD) graduate degree certificate program at the University of Arizona and helps teach the core seminarfor that program.
Prior to his research appointment at the University of Arizona in 2005, Dan spent several years in Fairbanks, Alaska managing the science management offices for the National Science Foundation’s Arctic System Science program and the affiliated Human Dimensions of the Arctic System program.
